Swine Blew!

Swine Flu. If you are not intelligent enough to see through the TV news then you would think that swine flu is some form of contagious cancer. It has been blown out of proportion and is being seen as the greatest epidemic since the dawn of time. If statistics are anything to go by then we should relax quite a bit. According to them, 99.5% of swine flu victims survive. 99.5%!!!!!! That is, only 0.5% of patients die. I 'm taking a leap by assuming that this 0.5% might be having other conditions also which led to their death or they were n' t provided with decent health care. More percentages of people die by committing suicide. Is suicidal tendency an epidemic now? Why don't we say anything against the Fear Factory? A few comments here and there are not enough. Worst thing about this is the exploitation of the fear. Fear factory has forced people to go out and buy masks to protect themselves. WHO and the different health ministries have repeatedly said that people who are not dealing with patients or are not patients themselves need not wear the masks. Fear Factory is much more powerful than WHO. What was WHO thinking taking on Fear Factory! As we can see, nobody listened to the WHO. WHO has become 'who?' in this case. Blind and deaf go out to buy masks. What happens? Chemists take advantage of the situation and overprice the masks, thus exploiting people's fear or ignorance, depending on whether you view the public as victims or humans of low intellect. Another case of exploitation was by local political parties. I saw MNS party workers giving out free masks (absolutely useless to the public due to it's pathetic quality and layering) standing under the party banners. These extremists take every opportunity they get to increase their votes account. It's high time people start educating rather than spreading fear. We can do our part by spreading facts among the people we come across. Yes, caution is required but let's not play with the minds of the populace and give the opportunistic pests a pathway. That's it for now. We might update this.
